Spring Plan
It’s been a while since I’ve posted. I didn’t really have any good ideas for a plan. Plus the highly variable weather in the Colorado spring means that most of the workouts needed to be adjusted anyway.
I think I have a good plan now for the next couple of weeks. I’ll reevaluate in the summer and see what we can do with barbells.
Let’s start each day with some heavy farmers walks. I’ve been doing one arm and two arm for about 50 feet down and back. I adjust the weight so that it’s hard for that distance.
Then I’m going to look at adding some volume. Plan on lighter weights and more doubles for time under tension. We’ll also be adding in more circuits and complexes to keep the density up.
Rough template for the next couple of weeks:
Start with 15 min of heavy farmers walks with plenty of rest and then:
Monday is still climbing day for me, so no workouts on Monday
Tuesday: 8-12 rounds of 5 double kettlebell thrusters, 8-12 push-ups, 8-12 curls (just an empty barbell), an 8-12 bent-over rows. Do as a circuit with sufficient rest after the circuit
Wednesday: 5 rounds of 8 double kettlebell clean and jerks plus a pullup
Thursday: 1 heavy press each arm on the minute for 20 minutes
Friday: normal Friday workout - 20 minutes of clean, squat, press, pullup. With sufficient rest between rounds. I do doubles, but singles are fine too.
